Culture

At Stoll Keenon Ogden the asset we prize the most, and work the hardest to preserve, is our culture.  Across the years, as we have grown and diversified, as the law has evolved and our clients’ needs have changed, we have never forgotten who we are and why we are here.

In a sentence, we are a client-oriented, service-oriented, people-oriented law firm.  As this sequence suggests, our clients always come first.  That’s why our Mission Statement says:  “Our clients’ success is our mission.”  That’s why we pride ourselves on being always here for them.  We work hard because that’s what our clients deserve.  But we don’t over-lawyer engagements.  We hire and train the most effective advocates because that is what our clients expect.  We value quality over quantity.  We recognize our producers; we celebrate our winners.  All to one end—doing the best job, the most effective job and the most efficient job, for every client every time.

Service above and beyond the practice of law—to the public, the community and the legal profession—has always been another hallmark of our culture.  From Judge Stoll, who spent ten years on the Circuit Court bench and thirty years as Chairman of the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees, down to the present, Stoll Keenon Ogden attorneys have served as legislators; judges; state and local bar association presidents; city; county and commonwealth attorneys; school board members; and chairs of an astounding array of civic charitable and business organizations. We have taken on these responsibilities, and we will continue to take them on in the future, because we feel an obligation to give of our time and talents for the greater good.

Stoll Keenon Ogden has more than 140 lawyers, but our firm is comprised of more than 300 committed professionals, every one of whom plays a key role in our clients’ success. Legal assistants, paralegals, accountants, librarians, and our technology, human resources, marketing and office services staff all contribute to even the simplest engagement.  They are all important and we treat them that way.  A law firm is a service organization and any service organization is only as good as each person. Recognizing this, our goal is always to hire the best, offer the best training, retain the best and provide the best possible working environment.  And it shows-in 2009, 2008 and 2007, Stoll Keenon Ogden was recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in Kentucky.  In 2010, the firm was recognized as the No. 1 Best Place to Work in Kentucky for large-sized employers.  We aimed for No. 1 because our people are worth it!
