Legal Alliances
Energy & Mineral Law Foundation
Given its signature practices in energy and mineral law, the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation (EMLF) is a natural strategic alliance for SKO. EMLF is the leading educational organization for professionals in the energy and mineral law sectors in the Midwest and Southeast. In addition to the numerous attorneys who regularly lecture at EMLF educational programs, Kendrick Riggs and John Henderson currently serve as Trustees on the EMLF Board.
Louisville Bar Association
Stoll Keenon Ogden and its legacy firm in Louisville, have a long history of involvement and leadership with the Louisville Bar Association (LBA). Five members or former members of the firm have served as President of the LBA: Squire Ogden, Jack Ballantine, Greg King, Tom Williams and Olu Stevens. The mission of the LBA is to promote justice, professional excellence and respect for the law, improve public understanding of the legal system, facilitate access to legal services and serve the members of the association. We remain devoted to the LBA and its mission.
Meritas
The firm is a member of the Meritas network, an international alliance of commercial law firms located in more than 230 markets. All member firms are independent of each other and undergo intensive scrutiny both before admission and during membership. This association permits our firm to obtain legal advice for our clients on an immediate basis and in remote locations by providing resources on an international level. SKO attorneys have been members of Meritas, one of the oldest global affiliations in existence, since its inception in 1990.
Fayette County Bar Association
Stoll Keenon Ogden has had an extensive relationship with the Fayette County Bar Association since the 1930s, shortly after the FCBA's founding. With a membership roster currently numbering over 1,000, the FCBA consists of practicing attorneys throughout the Central Kentucky area. SKO attorneys have routinely held leadership positions in the FCBA. Two members of the Firm, Gene Vance and Lucy Pett, currently serve on the Board of Directors. The FCBA is committed to the community as evidenced by such projects as the FCBA Modest Means program, which provides legal services at reduced rates to individuals whose income does not qualify them for traditional pro bono services. SKO's deep involvement in the FCBA showcases the Firm's commitment to the community and its members' commitment to the legal profession.
