Law Students

Stoll Keenon Ogden prides itself on the ability to attract the best and brightest law students who fit the firm’s values and culture. The SKO Summer Associates Program is designed to provide our summer associates a view of what work life is like for the typical associate of the firm. Throughout the program, our summer associates work alongside our attorneys on real matters for our clients, gaining a deeper appreciation of what it is like to practice law at SKO.

Summer Associates Program

Throughout the course of the 10 week program, our summer associates work with attorneys from various areas of our diverse legal practices. Each summer associate is paired with an attorney mentor who serves as a source of information and guidance while directing and cultivating progress. Work assignments are distributed directly from attorneys, and each assignment is evaluated upon completion. While we strive to give our summer associates broad exposure to a wide range of practice areas, we also work to provide as much access as possible to those areas of the law that are of most interest to each individual summer associate.

In addition to working with summer associates to improve their research and writing skills, we supplement the on-the-job education by including summer associates in training opportunities and, whenever possible, at client conferences, closings, depositions, hearings, mediations and trials.

Our summer associates also meet with firm management to gain an understanding of how the firm is organized and managed. They gather with the leaders of our practices for regular direction and insight into each practice area to understand the essentials behind providing excellent client service and project management.

Separate from the assigned tasks, summer associates are invited to attend various social events to meet staff and other business professionals on a personal, more relaxed level. Each luncheon, happy hour or unique behind-the-scenes tour of some of Kentucky’s iconic places offers invaluable insight and a memorable experience.

How to Apply

SKO hires bright and ambitious first- and Second-year law students with top-notch qualifications. We interview students on-site at a number of law schools and job fairs. Please note that we also accept resumes from students who attend schools at which we do not interview. In that regard, we accept resumes from Second-year students starting August 1 through October 31, and from first-year students starting December 1 through February 28.

If you wish to apply for a position, please send your resume, transcript or questions to Patrick Smith.
