Timothy R. Wiseman

Tim is a Member in Stoll Keenon Ogden’s Lexington office and has been with the firm since 2016, after working for four years in private practice. He is part of the Business Litigation, Business Torts, Bankruptcy & Financial Restructuring, and Tort, Trial & Insurance Services groups.  

Tim has wide-ranging experience in corporate restructurings and bankruptcies. He assisted in the representation of a restaurant operator in its Chapter 11 proceeding, which resulted in the confirmation of a plan of liquidation proposed jointly with the unsecured creditors’ committee. In another Chapter 11 proceeding, he helped represent a cattle farming operation as it successfully reorganized and exited bankruptcy. He also has assisted in the representation of a liquidating trustee who oversaw the administration and distribution of the unsecured creditors’ trust in a bankruptcy that concerned multiple coal mining companies. Additionally, he was part of a team representing a coal company in its acquisition of a mine complex in Virginia.

Before joining SKO, Tim focused primarily on civil litigation and honed his skills in complex federal cases, bankruptcy and product liability. Tim’s background includes a clerkship to the Honorable Karen K. Caldwell, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. He also served as a judicial intern to the Honorable John A. Gibney Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. For his many legal accomplishments, Tim has been recognized as a Rising Star by Kentucky Super Lawyers®.

Business Litigation: Tim’s experience as a litigator spans a wide range of matters for clients in a variety of industries. He has particular expertise in cases involving premises liability, environmental permitting, eminent domain, class actions, and actions under the Federal Employers Liability Act.   

Business Torts: At all stages of litigation, Tim represents clients in defending and prosecuting torts such as breach of contract claims, lender liability and shareholder disputes.

Bankruptcy & Financial Restructuring: Tim provides consultative services that help lenders avoid litigation. He also represents lenders with respect to loans and asset-based credit, and he assists business debtors in insolvency situations. 

Tort, Trial & Insurance Services: Along with handling torts, Tim routinely advises clients on coverage disputes, defense of bad faith, and other legal concerns relating to surety, bonding, and life and health insurance claims.
