Ronald C. Smith

For virtually his entire career Ron has represented franchised automobile, truck, and farm implement and equipment dealers throughout the Midwest, Southeast and Northeast. He serves as the lead outside counsel for the Automobile Dealers Association of Indiana, the Indianapolis Auto Trade Association and has represented the Equipment Dealers Association and the United Equipment Dealers Association and their members in various legal matters.

Ron represents dealers in virtually every aspect of their business including franchise law enforcement, facility issues, market area assignments, performance standards, termination, warranty and incentive audits and other manufacturer disputes.   He also represents dealerships in regulatory and licensing matters before various federal and state agencies.  His representation also includes employment and wage matters, vendor agreements, indirect lending relationships, inventory working capital and real estate financing, litigation, and succession and estate planning.  Additionally, Ron has represented several hundred vehicle and farm equipment dealerships in purchase and sale transactions. Ron also represents non-dealer closely held corporations in manufacturing and serrvice providers. 

Ron presently serves on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Dealer Counsel and various board subcommittees.

     For more than 40 years, Mr. Smith has lectured and conducted programs for numerous trade
     associations and trade groups and has written extensively in trade publications. In addition,
     he has lectured and presented seminars for numerous business and trade groups on contract
     law, estate planning, probate and transactional matters.
