Kentucky Bar Association Elects Ballantine and Weihe to Leadership Roles

LOUISVILLE (July 3, 2017)—Two Stoll Keenon Ogden PLLC attorneys have been elected to leadership positions of the Kentucky Bar Association (KBA).

Douglas C. Ballantine is the KBA’s president-elect and Eric M. Weihe is chair of the Young Lawyers Division. Their one-year terms began July 1.

They were installed at the 2017 KBA Annual Convention June 23 in Owensboro.

Ballantine is a member of the firm’s board of directors and its business litigation practice and serves as chair of the business torts practice. He is also a member of the class action, intellectual property, securities litigation, tort, trial & insurance services and construction law practice groups. He represents clients in commercial and intellectual property litigation and defends insurance bad faith and personal injury cases.

Ballantine is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America and a member of the Louisville Bar Association. He served on the KBA Board of Governors from 2008 to 2014, as well as the KBA’s Ethics Committee, the Budget and Finance Committee, the Professionalism Committee and the Continuing Legal Education Commission. Ballantine is a member of the American Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, the Kentucky Defense Counsel and the American Intellectual Property Law Association. He also serves on the Speed Museum Board of Governors.

As chair of the Young Lawyers Division, Weihe also will serve on the executive committee of KBA’s Board of Governors.

The KBA Board of Governors oversees the management of the KBA, an independent agency of the Kentucky Supreme Court. The board assists the Court in regulating the practice of law in Kentucky, including lawyer discipline and continuing legal education. Additionally, it works to promote the efficiency and improvement of the judicial system in accordance with Supreme Court Rules.

Weihe joined SKO in 2008 and is a member of the tort, trial & insurance services practice, as well as the business litigation practice with a focus on business torts and environmental litigation. He concentrates his practice on insurance and personal injury litigation, including medical malpractice defense, and commercial litigation.
